Keep in touch. I want to hear from you…
I am a native of the hinterlands. I am the daughter of a long line of priests.
I first went to the Soviet Union at age 16. It freaked me out. I went back to Russia in college. It freaked me out more. I fell in love with Moscow after college, and eventually worked as an editor of the opinion page at a certain venerable paper there.
I am an academic refugee with a doctorate in Siberian and Mongolian history (Dissertation: The history of grassroots Buryat theater). I had the pleasure of wandering around Siberia and Mongolia, often alone, back when that was still possible for a shady foreigner with romantic ideals.
I work in the music and tech industries.
